We are thrilled to offer a cooking school in Piedmont — the region whose cooks and winemakers have employed the gifts of nature to create what may be the finest culinary experience in Europe. To discover this often underrated region, join us for a week of cooking classes and gastronomic excursions, feasting on white truffles more precious than gold, and drinking extraordinary wines.

Make the region's traditional dishes, visit stellar restaurants, sublime chocolatiers, and cellars where some of the world's most highly rated red wines are made. During the day, explore Piedmontese chocolate, honey, hazelnuts, cheeses, and white truffles from locals who have honed their craft over generations.

Monday Arrival & Welcome Dinner
Arrival at the villa in Monteu Roero. Check-in begins at 2:00 pm. Welcome reception at 7:15 pm, followed by a special dinner at one of the area's best restaurants.
Tuesday Hazelnut Farm · Beekeeper · Cooking Class
Morning visit to a hazelnut farm and a beekeeper. Taste honey, hazelnuts, cheese, and chocolates they produce. Lunch at a local winery and Agriturismo where you will learn about and taste Vermouth. Evening hands-on cooking lesson with Giuliano.
Wednesday Goat Cheese Farm · Cooking Class
Visit a goat herder and taste a variety of organic goat cheeses. Lunch at a local trattoria. Evening cooking lesson with Giuliano.
Thursday Turin · Food Market · Chocolatiers · Pizza Evening
A full day trip to Turin, the capital of Piedmont. Giuliano leads a tour of its amazing food market, followed by a visit to a chocolate producer where you learn to make your own chocolates. Lunch at a traditional Piedmontese restaurant, then a walking tour of the city with a professional local guide. Back at the villa, a professional pizzaiolo demonstrates his art — his pizzas are dinner.
Friday Angelo Gaja Winery · Exclusive Tasting · Cooking Class
Visit the medieval town of Barbaresco for an exclusive access visit to Angelo Gaja's winery — not available to the general public. The visit culminates in a guided tasting of his iconic wines. Lunch in Barbaresco, then return to the villa for an evening cooking lesson with Giuliano.
Saturday Alba Truffle Festival · Truffle Hunt · Farewell Dinner
Visit the town of Alba — the "city of 100 towers" and capital of the Langhe, hosting the annual International White Truffle Fair. After lunch, join an expert trifulaio (truffle hunter) and his dog for a real truffle hunt. Return to the villa for rest, then enjoy a farewell dinner at one of the Langhe's finest restaurants.

Owner and founder of Gracious Getaways Travel Agency, lecturer in Italian food history, and writer for Saveur. Lael turns every excursion into a rich story — adding the history, color, and insider knowledge that transforms a day trip into a memory you'll carry for life.

Trip Planning

Welcome reception begins 7:15 pm. Check-in is at 2:00 pm — let us know if you expect to arrive earlier.

The week ends with a farewell dinner. Check-out is Sunday morning at your convenience.

What to bring: Comfortable shoes for walking and standing in class. Dress for the week is casual; slightly more elegant attire is encouraged for the welcome dinner. Aprons are not provided — bring your own if preferred.
