Teaching the art of Italian cooking

Giuliano Hazan is the award-winning author of the best-selling cookbooks, Every Night Italian, The Classic Pasta Cookbook, How to Cook Italian, Thirty Minute Pasta, and Hazan Family Favorites. He teaches Italian cooking classes throughout the U.S. and at his schools in Italy — in the Veneto, Tuscany, and Piedmont.

Giuliano is the only child of Marcella Hazan, the godmother of Italian cooking in America. Through six cookbooks and a lifetime of teaching, she preached a gospel of excellent ingredients, simplicity, and tradition that changed the way we cook. Though she passed on in the Fall of 2013, her influence in the food world lives on through Giuliano and his passion for cooking and eating with family.

"Food has an amazing ability to give pleasure as it brings people together. It can define a whole era of time, a culture, a way of living."

A Culinary Legacy

Honoring Marcella Hazan

We are proud to celebrate the legacy of Marcella Hazan — a pioneer who transformed how America cooks and enjoys Italian food. As the mother and lifelong inspiration of Giuliano Hazan, Marcella's fearless spirit and unwavering passion for authenticity set a new standard in home kitchens across the country.

Marcella's influence went far beyond recipes. She championed the beauty of simple, honest ingredients and empowered generations to embrace true Italian flavors. Her impact is so profound that Julia Child herself once said, "Marcella is my mentor in all things Italian."

Now, the story of Marcella's remarkable journey comes to life in a new, James Beard Award winning documentary. Featuring culinary icons such as Jacques Pépin, Danny Meyer, April Bloomfield, and Lidia Bastianich, this intimate film offers a rare glimpse into the life of the woman who changed the way we cook — and eat — at home.
