Giuliano Hazan and his wife Lael will be your hosts for the week’s activities.
Giuliano, like many other good cooks, learned his craft from his mother. The mother in this instance is Marcella Hazan, considered the doyenne of Italian cooking who, with the publication of The Classic Pasta Cookbook in 1973, changed the way people thought and spoke about Italian food, and shopped, cooked, and ate it. Giuliano’s first book, The Classic Pasta Cookbook, is an international bestseller with half a million copies in print in 16 countries and a James Beard award nominee. He went on to write four more cookbooks receiving rave reviews including one from The New York Times which said his book “epitomizes authenticity… this food is genius — genius distilled from history.” Giuliano has over 40 years of teaching experience and has made over a dozen appearances on the Today Show. On three occasions he has been a guest chef for the James Beard Foundation. He has lectured at the Smithsonian Institution and has been invited to teach on luxury cruise ships. In 2007 Giuliano was the recipient of the International Association of Culinary Professionals award for Cooking Teacher of the Year.
