I was intrigued yesterday to read in The New York Times Sunday Magazine an interview with Sandra Lee. I hadn’t heard of her, but I learned that she is a TV cooking celebrity and the companion of Governor Andrew Cuomo. He would some day make a creditable candidate for President, but even if I were to live long enough to see it, I wouldn’t vote for him. Sandra Lee believes that people who place too much importance on fresh ingredients are snobs. I’d hate to think of the devastating effect her presence in the White House would have on American cooking.

I prefer to be a snob than to be a stupid. I suppose she’s following some sort of diet which has spoiled her taste and seriously damaged her brains (if she’s ever had any)
I remember seeing this on Marcella’s Facebook page and commenting on it. I’ve watched her show or video clips once or twice out of curiosity and horrors! She definitely drags American home cooks (kicking and screaming, we would like to think) back into some Dark Ages of faux cooking when all of those cans, boxes, jars, and processed this or that was revolutionary, fascinating and fed into the new generation of parents whose priority was convenience. Wow, it baffles the mind! Sad that a food network would promote this. Thanks for sharing!
