Lucid instructions and Technology of an App

by Marcella Hazan on May 17, 2012

I had seen Giuliano’s extraordinary new pasta app in various stages of production, and I loved getting a taste of it on iTunes. The excerpt features a favorite pasta of mine, Spaghetti alla Norma, which is infrequently mentioned in food blogs. What Giuliano has is an exceptional gift for synthesizing and clearly defining the steps of a pasta recipe. No one does this better. In fact, his first book, The Classic Pasta Cookbook, was a world-wide success, translated into a score of languages. It’s a pity that it has become an expensive hard-to get connoisseur’s item. This new app of Giuliano gives the lucid kind of instructions that made that first book famous, and does it, thanks to the technology, so much more dramatically. It’s like having him cook alongside you.

  1. I couldn’t agree more about how ridiculous it is that Guiliano’s first book, The Classic Italian Cookbook, is out of print. I literally can’t tell you how many used copies I have bought to give to friends, the most recent being giving it last week to my friend’s daughter who is off to college in the fall.

I downloaded the new App to my iPad this morning and can’t wait to try it!
