Return to the Villa!
The alumni course will include all new field trips, dining adventures and hands-on classes.
We will travel to an authentic acetaia to learn how traditional balsamic vinegar is made and has been made for generations.
We will go to Soave to discover the intricacies of white wine making, and we will visit Bassano del Grappa and learn about grappa making from one of the most respected grappa producers of northern Italy.
Giuliano will guide you through the famous Rialto market in Venice, and we will take you to one of our favorite restaurants to sample some extraordinary Venetian specialties.
You will also have the opportunity to learn how to make Italian breads and pastries from the internationally famous Simili sisters. Margherita and Valeria Simili grew up in their father’s award winning bakery, which was considered the best in all of Bologna. After they closed the bakery they became assistants to Marcella Hazan and then opened up their own school. They are the authors of two very successful cookbooks on breads and sweets and have been featured in many American magazines.
Of course, Giuliano will once again be your teacher in the kitchen and Marilisa will share more of her extensive knowledge of Italy’s finest wines.
As always, the number of students is limited to ensure as much personal hands-on attention as possible.
Our upcoming courses will begin on October 2, 2011. Please click on the course date you are interested in for a registration form.
We look forward to welcoming you at Villa Giona again soon.
